On 24th January 1999, Sen Ze (as a magician under his "Shaun Tan" persona) drove double blindfolded on the streets of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for a distance of 5km to help raise funds for The National Council For The Blind.

Fittingly, he started at Merdeka Square next to the former High Court buildings. He ended his journey at the iconic (and then recently completed) KLCC Twin Towers. This event was picked up by all national and international media including CNN and broadcasted to an audience of millions worldwide.

The huge success of this event was the result of Sen Ze and his team getting the necessary police permits and the cooperation of over 15 police officers and 4 police outriders to accompany his vehicle on the journey.

The event was spectacular to the public, but behind the spectacle was a serious process. Permits had to be obtained, police cooperation had to be secured, safety had to be planned, the media had to understand the story and every participant had to trust the person leading the event.
